Javier Tebas, on the Club World Cup: "My goal is to make sure there aren't any more. The games feel like preseason games."

LaLiga president Javier Tebas stated that his "goal is to ensure there are no more Club World Cups" and that the only way to do this is to eliminate them from the calendar, as they view the matches as "pre-season games," following a presentation at ESADE Business School in Madrid.

"By eliminating it. My goal is to stop there being no more Club World Cups; there are no more dates. There's no need for another competition. There's no more money in the world of audiovisual rights. What we have to do is maintain the ecosystem and eliminate it. We have to maintain the sustainability of football. I'm not watching it. Yesterday I watched a bit of Chelsea and it seemed like a summer friendly. I didn't see any intensity in the 25 minutes I saw of the match," Tebas explained.

Regarding the possibility of Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid starting La Liga later, Javier Tebas confirmed that they have requested it, but no agreement has yet been reached, and they will wait to see how the league progresses.

"There's a collective bargaining agreement that says three weeks of vacation. As far as I know, the Premier League and Bundesliga teams are going to start as usual. If Real Madrid or Atlético Madrid win or reach the semi-finals, they'll earn €120 million. Are we going to have to start later because they're tired? That's fine. We have to think about the other clubs. They've asked, but there's been no response yet," Tebas concluded.
